Bartering

Local Market Hero strongly supports the barter system. If you have a product or service that you would be willing to trade for another company’s product or service, the trade could be very profitable for you.  We belong to the nations’ largest bartering service and will happily introduce you to it.

The reason it works well for us is that we can always get full price for a service we are willing to trade in exchange for vacation packages, diamond rings, oil changes, therapeutic massage and the list goes on and on.  Right now we are preparing to exchange a website for hardwood floors and granite countertops. 

When you do the math, it is just like having a 75% off coupon for just about anything you can imagine. My doctor exchanges co-pays and my chiropractor exchanges adjustments. I am getting full price for my site and it really just took me man hours. Did I mention my wife and I are planning a trip to the French Alps next March?

The US dollar is getting weaker and weaker so this system was very appealing to me.  I watched the news this week and the US dollar is about to be de-listed as a World Currency. If that happens, I now have a hedge for my business.  It could mean the difference between owning a business and losing a business. This is an important part of our business strategy.

Each year we budget only 25% of our work for Barter. We do have bills that require cash but it also opens us up to lot of business that we would not have otherwise. How much business do we get this way? I have to turn away 75% of the requests that come to me. A LOT OF BUSINESS!

I like the fact that we are able to cherry pick the jobs. Don’t tell the group I said that.  This is not a flash in the pan either. This group has been bartering for about 25 years.
