Then when someone in Macon enters your keyword, your ad appears and they can then click on your ad and go to your site.
Now, if you look closely, you will realize that there are ads on top and ads on the bottom. Placement is decided on a bidding process. It is an auction for position and it is re-auctioned every time someone clicks that keyword. Bid pricing is determined by 10 factors. I will tell you two, for simplicities’ sake. It is determined by how many people are bidding and by how relevant your ad is compared to the page it lands on.
Let’s assume you are advertising a Laundromat. Your keyword is “Austin Laundromat” and the ad is focused on quality Laundromat in South Austin TX. When a visitor clicks your ad and lands on your page, they should be looking at a page about South Austin Laundromats. If so they give you a good score and a discount on your click price. Please be aware that the exact opposite is also true. If the keyword, the ad and the landing page do not correlate, you will pay dearly on your click price and position. The difference could be $.25 to $2.00 per click. This is why a professional agency is worth their weight in gold.
